Did I Mention...

Did I mention how tired I am?  Yes, I am again writing while waiting for my podcasts to download.  I'm trying out some new ones. (More on those in a later entry)  But, yes, how am I fairing this holiday season?   Tired, as I mentioned earlier, I am busier this year then I have been before, I'm not really sure why, but man I need some sleep.

I really can't complain though, I think it is just the cold weather and cloudy skies.  Yes, I love Oklahoma in winter, I actually have a winter, sans snow, but man is it cold, and it rained almost all day yesterday.  I love it.  Sunday while sitting on the couch knitting and looking out the window I noticed that all the trees were completely bare of leaves and thought how beautiful that was.  Nature was in her process of renewal. First stripping away the old so in a few months beautiful new green leaves and flowers will appear.  The bare trees were so quite and peaceful, as if resting.

Ahh, enough poetry on nature for tonight, I think my downloading is done.  Now time for sleep.

Goodnight everyone and stay warm wherever you are.

Gift Knitting Done/Christmas is HERE

Yay!  The gift knitting is done!  Not only that but I got all the presents wrapped and Christmas cards addressed and everything has been mailed.  I survived and I am ready to celebrate Christmas.  I am ready to relax, take a nap, read a book and knit my own stuff without any deadlines.

Other than that, A lot is going on in my life.  I did turn the big 3-0 a little over a week ago.  I feel pretty good.  I feel like myself, not any older or wiser but where I should be.  I like it.  My husband also made sure I had a WONDERFUL birthday, surprising me with lovely jewelry and a romantic dinner in the City at The Melting Pot.

Because it is Christmas, this holiday season seems to have complicated two things I am working on.  Maintaining my girlish figure and saving money.  All those treats to eat and presents to buy!  How can a girl resist when its covered in chocolate and on SALE!  Yes, shopping and eating are one and the same for me.  Two of my favorite things, yet something everyone needs to control to some extent.  So, I am still sticking to my diet with the "occasional" treat and or fast food.   Also, now that I have finished my Christmas shopping, I am done spending money.  Money-wise I think I did pretty good, food wise, I'm taking it day-by-day.  I did lose 2 pounds though and also discovered I fit in a pair of pants from 2 sizes ago. So that made me happy.

So as today, December 20th, 2011, only 3 more days until Christmas, I am ready and I hope everyone else is too.

Merry Early Christmas Everyone.

I'd Rather Be Knitting

Christmas is here in full swing and I don't think I have ever been as busy with the Holiday season as I am now.  Secret Santa gifts, Christmas parties, gifts to buy, wrap and ship and Christmas cards that need to go out to 50 people.  Not to mention, work, laundry, cooking and cleaning.  Honestly, really, I'd rather be knitting!  All I want to do is sit on my couch with something really good on TV and knit.  I don't care what, I just want to knit.  Basically, I just want to relax, it seems there is no time.  So here I am ranting and raving on how I want to do what I can't do and don't want to do what I have to do.  Yep.  I'd rather be knitting.

Of course I'd rather be knitting because I am a tad bit obsessed,  I mean who wouldn't want to do what makes them happy?

Ok, Yes, I am busy, and so is probably everyone right now as it is the Holiday's.  I do have a Secret Santa gift exchange at work.  So get that wrapped and done.  Wrap and ship my Mother-in-Law's Christmas gift  tonight also and send it with husband for him to mail.  Done.  Company Christmas party tomorrow afterwork, wrap ornament for gift exchange.  Done.  Wrap Christmas present for friend at work done.  Ok, all that I have to do tonight is very feasible.  Including hanging up the load of laundry that is now finished.

Later in the week (Wednesday) sign and address at least half the Christmas cards.  Done.  Have them all sent out by Friday.  Done.  (I say done because that helps me visualize actually being done.)  Friday, buy food for Knitting group Christmas party.  Done.  Saturday, cook food and clean house for Knitting group Christmas party.  Done, Wrap Knitting group Christmas party Dirty Santa gift.  Done.

Ok, that takes care of my week.  I can do this, and at the end, I will have a 3 day weekend to relax!

Ok, I have to go and actually do this.  Happy Holidays everyone and I hope you get everything on your busy Christmas To-Do list accomplished too.

Cooking Mis-turns

Ok, just a quick note to say it snowed this morning in Oklahoma!!!!!!!!!  Loved it! I loved seeing the snow, I loved being the snow.  I didn't even mind driving in the snow.  But dang it was cold all day.

Done with that, today's blog is about cooking.  More particularly, the unsuccessful parts of cooking.  I was exactly unsuccessful, I just failed to make something good on the palate.  In an attempt to reduce my weight and crappy food intake, at Whole Foods this weekend, I picked up some celery and vegetable broth.  So for dinner tonight, I decided to make a yummy low-calorie vegetable soup.  I sauteed some celery, a carrot and some scallions in a sauce pan until cooked and then added the vegetable broth until warm, like soup.  It was BLAND!  I did some garlic powder and salt while cooking but that did not help, it smelled good and looked good but upon tasting, it had a quick burst of flavor then nothing.  The vegetables were good, but I'm glad I had some toast and cottage cheese to accompany my meal.  My soup is now in the freezer until I can figure out a way to doctor it up.  Any suggestions are welcome.  Maybe it just needs time to marinate.
